1. (Common Noun-Common &/or Masculine) It is a popular folk-drama of Assam particularly of the erstwhile Goalpara district. This performing art is accompanied by gan (song). It is largely believed, though other arguments are there, that the name ‘Kushan’ comes from the name of ‘Kusha’, one of the twin babies of Sita Devi. It is heard that Laba and Kusha presented the song narrating the story of the Ramayana. So the theme of the song is normally taken from the great epic Ramayana. A Kushan group generally consists of some twenty members along with different musical instruments. The leader of the group is called Gidal who plays the musical instrument ‘Bena’. The other characters are known by the names Doyari (a ridiculous character), Bain (drummer), Pait (companion of the mul) and Chukuri (male dancer in guise of female). অসমৰ অবিভক্ত গোৱালপাৰা জিলাত প্ৰচলিত এক লোক-নাট্যানুষ্ঠান ৷ কোনো কোনোৱে সীতাৰ পুত্ৰ কুশৰ দ্বাৰা প্ৰচাৰিত বাবে ইয়াক "কুশান" বুলি কয় ৷ আন কোনো কোনোৱে আকৌ কোচসকলে গোৱা গানৰ পৰা "কুশান" শব্দৰ উৎপত্তি বুলি মত পোষণ কৰে ৷ এই কুশান গানৰ দল একুৰিৰো অধিক কলা-কুশলীৰ লগতে খোল, তাল, পেঁপা, বাঁহী, দুতাৰা আদিৰ সুৰেৰে পৰিবেষ্টিত ৷ ওজাপালিৰ ওজাৰ দৰে ইয়াতো এজন গুৰিধৰা গায়ক থাকে ৷ তেওঁক "গীদাল" আৰু বাকীসকলক "পাইল" বা পালি বোলে যদিও তেওঁলোকক বিভিন্ন নামেৰে জনাযায় ৷ সাধাৰণতে ইয়াত ৰামায়ণৰ কাহিনীহে গোৱাটো নিয়ম যদিও মহাভাৰত আৰু অন্যান্য পুৰাণৰ গীতো পৰিৱেশন কৰা দেখা যায় ৷ গীত-পদসমূহ ওজাপালিৰ দৰে অৰ্থব্যঞ্জক মুদ্ৰাৰে পৰিৱেশন কৰা হয় ৷
